ΚΙΚΗ
My name is Kiriaki Papadaki, but everyone calls me Kiki. I’m the mother of a 5-year old girl, Alexandra, and the partner of a 45-year old boy, Kostas. I’m a working mom and wife, with rotating schedules, as I work in a TV station. My special relationship with food and especially cooking started early on… I’ve always liked to observe and help in the kitchen, next to an avid cook, my mother, Mrs. Zacharoula. Growing up, I started taking on more of an active role when she was away on errands. As a teenager, I spent many hours, during summer afternoons mostly, experimenting with the classic mom-made recipes from Tzelemente’s two volumes. As a young adult, newly independent and living away from my parents’ house, cooking and searching for ingredients turned into an almost daily task. Ever since then, I have spent hours upon hours looking for recipes in cooking magazines and the internet, reading critiques for restaurants and products, inspecting photos of dishes and desserts. Cooking remains a stable part of my daily life, but it’s now more of a two-sided endeavour. On one hand, my nightly cooking escapades are a way to cover the daily needs of a family of three, who take off for school or work armed with food containers. On the other hand, they are part of a process of learning or further cultivating techniques, experimenting and modifying traditional recipes. I think the best way to catch up with friends or family is around a dining table, just like my personal idea of a good outing involves eating out at my favourite spots. Through foodurismo.com, I share with you the recipes I love, the ones I try for the very first time and the ones I “mess with”; the products I find fascinating; outings, travels, and the best hangout places, both old favourites and new ones that immediately “clicked” for me.
