Easy Quince Jam-Sweet

μαρμελαδογλυκό κυδώνι

Quinces are here, and this easy jam-sweet is the only way to go!

One of the most beloved winter fruits is quince, and one of the best sweets someone can make is quince spoon sweet, jam, and quince paste.

quince jam-sweet

Quince is a hard fruit, and this can sometimes put us off from handling it.

From this small difficulty came for me the in-between but wonderful solution of quince jam-sweet.

Basically, in this preparation, we follow almost all the steps for the classic quince spoon sweet.

But instead of cutting the quince into small pieces, we use the coarse side of the grater to grate it, and in this way we make the sweet easily and quickly.

almond in quince

If you love the taste of almond with quince, you can add whole blanched almonds or almonds cut into small pieces, even though this is not something usually done in jams. Almond adds extra flavor, and its texture makes sweets more interesting.

What I did in this quince jam-sweet was add a spice called tonka, which combines the aroma and flavor of licorice, clove, and vanilla, resulting in a more enhanced spicy aroma.

Tonka spice, which is a dark-colored bean that we grate on a fine grater like nutmeg, can easily be found in spice shops.

quince sweet on bread

Quince jam-sweet is very pleasant to eat with ice cream or yogurt, as well as on bread or rusks with butter.

Wash the quinces. Peel the quinces with a sharp knife or peeler.

cut the quince

Cut them into quarters and remove the seeds and anything hard.

Cleaning quinces needs care because they are hard.

Put the cleaned quince pieces into the lemon water.

quinces on the grater

Grate the quinces on the coarse side of the grater directly into the pot in which the sweet will boil.

sugar in the grated quince

Add the sugar to the pot with the quinces, and add the water as well.

boil the quince

Boil the sweet until the syrup sets.

add scented geranium

Add the scented geranium in the last few minutes.

grate tonka

At this point you can add a little vanilla or grate a little tonka spice. This spice is a seed with a rather complex aroma, combining vanilla, licorice, and clove, and it gives an excellent result. Add the almonds as well.

Put the hot jam-sweet into hot jars.

quince sweet with yogurt

Eat it with yogurt, ice cream, and on bread with butter.
